It was touch and go if these games would be playable today as the howling conditions from the tail of storm Ewan blew down upon our Girls. The wind died down and the ball was thrown in for the 1st league game of the campaign. Fingallians showed there worth by putting in a strong performance in both games. Towers started strong in both games with the wind at their backs they racked up some fine scores. The Girls applied their team motto of ‘Standing Tall’ and challenging and contesting for every ball. The Towers Girls are continuing to build on their fitness and this test in lashing wind and rain will stand to them and will make them stronger. 20minutes into the 1st half the referees called a halt to proceedings and all teams ran for cover. The games restarted after 10 minutes and played through until the final whistle.
Molly Gough played her hearth out for the 1st of many games for the Towers. Aoife Roberston was pulled from midfield early in the 1st half with a knee injury. Ciarra Kenny contributed by putting in a solid performance on her 2nd game after a long spell on the line with a knee injury. Aishling Mc Gratton battled hard and bagged a brace of goals for her efforts. Towers were missing Riona Ni Shruthain, Emma Fogharty and Sadhbh Keane through injury and illness. Towers made plenty of substitutions giving all the Girls ago.
Really encouraging performance Girls. Well done to all.
