Under 11 Girls Football

The Under 11 girls continued their league campaign at home to Na Fianna at the Community Centre on April 2nd, match report by Maria Shannon.

Just before the Towers senior men took on St. Vincent’s at Parnell Park, our under 11 girls had their own match against opponents from the Northside.

Na Fianna are no strangers to this team, having played them in league and challenge matches over the last few years so the girls were looking forward to meeting them again.

There’s been plenty of practice in training on using their non-dominant foot when passing to their team mates or getting the ball out of danger and it’s something the girls have been working on and are using in their matches, sometimes with the added bonus of a few points being scored as well.

There were plenty of space created, especially down the wings, with the backs using them well to get the ball up to midfield and their forwards, creating scoring opportunities when they can.

It was a tough set of games but everyone came out of it smiling.

Onwards and upwards girls – our next match is away to St. Vincents on May 14th.

The Under 11’s are always on the lookout for new players, they train on a Tuesday and Thursday evening, for more information contact Ken Byrne on 087 998 3484
